Overview
I provide support to various departments of the business including Supply Chain, Retail Planning, Sales, and Marketing. This support is comprised of multiple tasks including maintaining and distributing weekly Inventory and Shipments Reports. The Reports provide relevant insight and analysis for the Operations department and the wider business. I also analyse our distribution processes with a view to suggest changes that optimise WHV costs, enhance product profitability along with increasing efficiency in operations.
Skills
Definitely. Throughout my placement with Warner, I have been given access to many different opportunities to develop my skillset such as communication workshops and online Microsoft Proficiency courses. Working within such an experienced team has enabled great development in numerous skills such as communication and analysis. My organisational and time management skills have developed considerably due to my team trusting me to work on my own projects individually and on my own terms.
Responsibilities
I have been given a great deal of responsibility throughout the placement. I complete and distribute reports that are sent out weekly to over 50 people across the organisation. As well as this, I am put in charge of various projects which are put in place to help support the business, including working with HMV to enhance their exclusive range performance. Even with all the responsibility, I am still given great support from my manager.
Support & Guidance
As mentioned above, I work within a very experienced and supportive team, all of whom are very personable and easy to work with. They are always happy to help with any questions or requests that may come about, and I could not ask for a better supporting cell around me. I am always encouraged to pursue activities that will help develop my career and am constantly reminded that the placement year is for my benefit.
Culture
The company culture here is immense, everyone is very friendly and approachable. The company treat you extremely well, with plenty of company events and giveaways, making it impossible to feel poorly treated. Warner is constantly promoting inclusion events and campaigns, so all employees are free to promote and experience an inclusive and affable workplace. Also, working in a media company makes it very easy to meet people who share similar interests!
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement so far and will be sad to see it end. The experience has confirmed my desire to work within the Entertainment industry and I hope to return to it at some point along the line in my career. The fact that there are over 100 apprentices/Interns that are a similar age made the experience all the more enjoyable due to the socials and Early Careers Events.
Yes
Of course, having a passion for Film and Television is essential if you want to work at Warner. One thing that is definitely apparent in the culture and recruitment is looking for applicants with personality, so don’t be afraid to show yours when going through the application process! Finally, it’s ok not to know everything when starting out in the role, the year is all about you improving yourself, personally and professionally.
