Overview
Each day consisted of talks learning more about an aspect of the work Fidelity international does. The first day focused on equities, the second day focused on fixed income and the third day focused on mixed asset classes. After learning more about that area of the business we took part in research tasks that involved researching companies and providing a recommendation of the best investment. There was also opportunities to speak/ network with current employees at Fidelity as well as other students participating in the spring week.
Skills
I learnt about how an investment manager would decide what companies to invest in and generally a lot more about the finance industry.
Business Insight
They were clear about what job roles there were within the company and we got to interact with a wide range of people from different areas of the business.
Culture
The company culture seemed friendly. Everyone that spoke to us was very nice and happy to help.
Your Impressions
I think the work experience pushed me out of my comfort zone with the research tasks because I didn't feel like i really had the knowledge to complete them as well as I would have liked but I did enjoy learning more about the industry
