Skills
This week was invaluable for my professional development. We learned about the significant emphasis on teamwork, as well as having the opportunities to put the skills we were trained in into practice through case studies. This week was excellent as an insight into Goldman Sachs, the nature of the organisation and its people, and the values that the firm holds.
Business Insight
The Spring Insight week has allowed me to prepare adequately for the upcoming Summer Internship interviews. In addition, it introduced many of the possibilities within IBD that I had never considered, including working in the European Financing Group, a service area I had very little knowledge on and hadnt seriously considered. Having learned about EFG, i would be more than open to a career in the Financing side of GS.
Culture
Very friendly and overall positive atmosphere. Employees made me feel exceptionally welcome. Everyone from HR, to bankers, to employees outside IBD were more than happy to answer questions, talk about their career journies, and their life at GS. The atmosphere felt very inclusive, and it was excellent to see the firm's commitment to D&I through many initatives including 'One Million Black Women' and 'Launch with GS'.
Your Impressions
Although very early in my career, I can confidently say this has been the single most impactful and most enjoyable career experience I have had to date (despite it being the shortest).
Yes
Research the service areas, the cultural values, and be yourself. It's clear GS value authenticity.
