Overview
I really like how technical the insight sessions are. I like the small workshop with my mentor. Some of my favourite parts of the insight are: "Day in the life of a Software Development Engineer". In addition, this program provides opportunity such as mentoring program or summer internship application. Overall, despite the program being virtual when I attend it, it is very interactive and engaging.
Skills
Yes. Some practices about software engineering and how to write good code. Some topics I learned are: Different Level of Tests, (Integration Test and Unit Test: self contained, dummy values, no access to database). Arrange-Act-Assert and FIRST principles.
Business Insight
It provides some information sessions about leadership principles of Amazon and how the company incorporates diversity in its value. It is interesting to hear about various aspects of working as a software engineer in Amazon.
Culture
It is very engaging with people of different background working with each other. I feel like both failures and personal improvements are celebrated by the company. Everyone is responsive with others' need if they come into any problem. It is a friendly environment to work in.
Your Impressions
I really like the workshops and some of the mini-projects we have done as a group. We did some small but fun work like debug bingo, making a combat game, etc. They are very technical compared to other spring weeks I attended, and I really enjoy that.
Yes
Really look a the leadership principles on Amazon as they are seriously valued throughout the insight program. Hone up fundamental coding skills, data structure, system design, and algorithms.
