    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • Had meetings talking about interview processes and how to answer technical problems. Also had technical workshops where we would try to solve problems together as a team. The problems were challenging and allowed me to learn a lot of new things. We would start with talks from staff members who would explain what they did at Amazon. They would also talk about the interview process and how to become successful in receiving a role at Amazon. I found this very useful and this motivated me to try and apply for a role here.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have greatly improved my coding skills as I have learned a lot of new concepts. I have also improved my communication skills as well as my teamwork skills from working with my teammates. This experience also encouraged me to carry on researching new programming concepts to use and to try and implement them in my code. I have also learned how to explain my code to others in the most efficient way and to always ask questions when I am stuck.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • They were very clear about what job roles were available and we even had talks from people with different roles at Amazon. I personally liked how the work at Amazon can be varied and the roles can be different. Something I found quite useful was how we are given a resource page with lots of resources that can make us successful in trying to obtain a role at Amazon. I will use the resources to try and get a role here.

  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Amazon
  • My advice would be to not treat interviews like an exam and to have a conversation with the interviewer. Also, make sure to ask questions when you need help. Having a lot of questions to ask at the end of the interview can also make you stand out. Using the STAR method is key when answering situation based questions. As you will be asked questions related to Amazon's leadership principles, you would need to use this method to answer the questions.
