    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I enjoyed a lot of the work I did and picked up many valuable skills but a year is a long time to be constantly fighting for opportunities.

    2/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • With my own department I fit in very well and made some great friends but some relationships with outside departments were close to antagonistic.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My particular manager gave no consideration to personal development and support or guidance was near impossible to come by.

    1/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • I could keep myself busy with project work but motivation was hard at times when no direction or demand was provided.

    2/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Definitely a small fish in a large pond but some of the projects I ran were very visible with a high impact.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt many technical skills re Google Docs, Sharepoint and MS Office but it is my soft skills like people and project management that will be most valuable.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Immediate department was a good laugh.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • We were the first year and it was very last minute and my manager hadn't been informed I was coming. The company is growing so HR only seem to care about getting people in the door.

    2/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I had plenty of training but you are at the bottom of the pile so my manager was reluctant to release me for everything.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Above 25 days holiday

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I have a guaranteed job with a salary that will be hard to beat as well as professional qualifications. I could have earned the same with a summer placement which is frustrating and I was hoping to be more enthused about coming back

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There are hundreds of graduates and undergraduates so you would have no trouble socialising especially if you house share with some.

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Very easy to live on the salary with a little budgeting.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Plenty of bars and clubs in both Leamington and Coventry.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Great employee scheme where you get £100-£150 a year to do anything you want almost. Other than that not much organised company wide.

    2/5
