Overview
although the insight even lasted only three days, we got to the chance to get involved in plenty of activities. Those activities were in the form of workshops. There were various workshops throughout the days, in each workshop we had different challenges that we had to face and solve. During those workshops, we got split into smaller groups of approximately 7-9 people and we were given a tutor. Having a tutor was really helpful as you could ask the questions directly to them rather than being in a bigger group and having to wait longer to receive a response.
Skills
During the amazon technology insight event, we received a lot of information explaining how to approach problems and how amazon follows the leadership principles in order to approach any problem they face so we developed a new way of thinking. This is not all though, we also got the develop our existing skills throughout the various workshops where we were given a series of challenges to which we had to come up with solutions and then test them to make sure that we receive the expected solutions
Business Insight
Understanding about all the business and potential roles was really enjoyable. Everything was explained perfectly and it was really clear and easy to follow. From the technology event we got to know about the different roles and how Amazon actually encourages their employees to move up in positions, be in within their own department or a different one - Amazon really cares about people and their development which is very encouraging and makes you feel like you are actually part of Amazon's family.
Culture
The company culture and the general atmosphere were pleasant. Amazon in big on culture and it is very diverse and it can be seen from this technology insight event - it was encouraging minorities to join the event so that they become even more diverse and expand their cultures as=nd not let people's cultural differences affect them. Everyone during the technology insight was very friendly and they seemed to be proud to be part of amazon.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the insight. It was really helpful and informative. We had the chance to ask plenty of questions and get responses to our questions. We got to learn about all the leadership principles and the Amazon culture with everyone who got involved. I also got to know that there are countless of roles in Amazon that you could get into and the internship opportunities that we could apply to and how the interview process is going to be which was really helpful.
Yes
To anyone applying to amazon, I would advise them to take part in this spring technology even beforehand as it is really really beneficial. It is not only beneficial because they walk you through the process, but also because you get the chance to sigh up to a mentor to whom you will be able to ask questions and get prompt responses during the meetings that you will schedule yourself so that you can be certain about any uncertainty.
