Overview
On the first day, we had a welcome talk from a Partner, we heard a Corporate case study. There was time to network and hear from lawyers & trainees from various departments. We were involved in an ADR workshop where we were put into small teams and we had to act on behalf of our client in the scenario The second day involved more networking, a Pro Bono talk and a chance to shadow a trainee for the afternoon.
Skills
I have developed my negation skills through the ADR workshop where we had to act in the best interests of our client. Speaking to trainees and receiving feedback and advice also boosted my confidence in my application advice and interacting with senior lawyers.
Business Insight
It was great to truly gain a real-life insight into the various roles that you may not properly experience from looking at a firm’s website. There were many sectors that I had the chance to speak to and ask questions and expand my knowledge on the potential areas that had available seats.
Culture
The company culture was truly welcoming, from trainees to senior lawyers to partners, everyone was very friendly and down to earth. There seemed to be less of a structured hierarchy with everyone seeming too get along and there’s an open door policy which helps.
Your Impressions
From my 2 days at the firm, it over exceeded my expectations, the welcoming atmosphere and the insightful case studies were very interesting. I would definitely apply to the firm next year.
