Overview
My daily role is extremely varied. I interact with various departments to complete a range of different projects. Although general administration and filing is part of the role, I spend most of the day working on the implementation of new systems, updating and maintaining the learning management database, scheduling and taking part in interviews, responding to queries from employees, and working on team projects.
Skills
Working within the HR team at EGGER has helped me to develop many key skills. For example, working with various parties on a range of exciting projects has allowed me to improve my communication, team-work, problem solving and organizational skills. The role has also been great in terms of developing my soft skills e.g. telephone manner, email response, confidence, assertiveness, and situational awareness.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of responsibility during my placement at EGGER. I was the the UK's key user and lead implementer of a new training system that was being introduced across our international operations. I was also given full responsibility to organise a range of company events such as corporate inductions, an undergraduate networking event, and team-building days. I was also given the chance to implement new processes into the department.
Support & Guidance
I received fantastic support throughout my internship. My 3-month and 6-month probationary reviews gave me the opportunity to target specific areas of personal development and resolve any issues I was having. The experienced members of the team were also always on hand to help me with any tasks where necessary. My manager and the HR team leader ensured that all tasks / responsibilities were explained thoroughly and I had all the necessary resources available.
Culture
The company culture was one of the main benefits of the placement. Egger's family owned status was visible throughout all levels of the company. Inter-departmental relationships and communication within Egger is strong, meaning there is always somebody who can assist. The office atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, but also cultivated drive and motivation to perform to a high standard.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. It gave me the opportunity to network with great people, work on engaging projects, develop key skills, and take pride in the work I was doing.
Yes
Egger give you quite a lot of responsibility from an early stage, allowing you to manage your own responsibilities independently and work on a range of fulfilling team projects. Therefore, you will need to demonstrate that you are motivated, organised and are able to work well as part of a team and on your own.
