Overview
Working with a team of developers, we complete tasks in the sprint. I will choose a task and begin work on it - I will either implement a new feature or fix any issues that may come up. When the task is complete I will create a merge request and have the code reviewed.
Skills
I have massively improved my programming abilities and learnt a wide range of industry standard technologies and frameworks.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given as much responsibility as any other member in the team. I was working on the same project with them and wasn't given any 'side' projects to work on
Support & Guidance
I had a mentor within my team who was my 'go-to' person when I had an issue. They would always be happy to help and would explain the issue from the fundamentals which really helped me to learn.
Culture
The company itself was friendly and nice. However the company is an older company and that does show within the full time employees and the way things within the company work.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the internship and the role quite a lot. I learnt a lot about the industry which is what I wanted to get out of this year
No
Be prepared for a lot of red tape. Getting things done within the company can take a lot of time due to the all the steps that have to be achieved first.
