Overview
I support on the attraction, recruitment and programme management of Unilever's Future Careers programmes including apprentices, placements and graduates. This means that my day to day responsibilities vary based on which part of the recruitment cycle we are in. I am currently helping to onboard all our 2022 new starter Industrial Placement (IP) students and offboarding the 2021 new IP starters.
Skills
Since being on placement I have developed my organisational communication, critic thinking and data literacy skills. The thing that has improved the most throughout my placement has been my confidence in my own capabilities.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot more responsibility than I expected. For example, managing the Future Careers learning development team in their delivery of the learning plan to all Future Careers employees.
Support & Guidance
I felt very supported by my Line Manager, team and HR throughout my placement. I had catch-up calls with my whole team twice weekly and a weekly catch-up call with my line manager. Everyone in the organisation is also very friendly and happy to help where they can.
Culture
There is a very open and safe culture. We have several employee networks dedicated to empowering all employees, including disability, gender, race and LGBTQIA+ networks. There is a community and wellbeing team dedicated to planning social networking events for our future careers employees.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Unilever and would love to have the opportunity to return once I graduate.
Yes
My advice to those applying would be to research the company and it's values as Unilever's Purpose is at the heart of what we do.
