    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Daily scrum call, followed by work on projects picked up or personal development. If you are on call then you can be called in during the day and join a meeting to solve a problem. If you chose to there are lots of ERGs (employee resource groups) that you can join and work with more.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed skills in python, and have learnt more about APIs and automations. As well as how SaaS products function, how major incidents are run and how professional teams work.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, with the major incident work a lot of responsibility is put on you to ensure that messages are going out to the client and internally. There is a certain amount of responsibility to completing the projects you have assigned to you within a deadline.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • If any support was ever needed the manager was always willing to help. My mentor was always down to talk and pass on guidance. There were weekly meetings with my manager to discus how i'm feeling where to improve and if there are any issues.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Very friendly, everyone was willing to lend a hand where applicable. Its very easy to reach out to people and ask for a chat to learn more about their roles, or to meet up for a coffee to plan projects.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I loved it, there is so much to do with the team, and I could pick us as much work as I physically could do. Its very subjective as to how much work was required and based on how much you picked up.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Oracle
  • Be prepared for technical questions and questions about yourself during the assessment centre, and make sure you are able to work in a team as teamwork is key. Be prepared to move to your home office as work will be there now.
