    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I learned more about finance, accounting, macro and micro economics. I seriously improved my excel skills and got to work on stress testing, model updating and process automation. I had a lot of sessions on how we hedge our positions, what are asset back securities and how they work. We discuss with my line manager almost on a daily basis the interest rates forecasts and macroeconomic factors that affect them. I get an experienced opinion from my team on where the market is going and how we get ready for what's coming.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was very fortunate to have a very open minded team who agree on changing some of the businesses procedures in order to make the more efficient. I got the chance to get extra work on the things that I am interested about and get a deep walk through with my team on how they work, what we want to see and what we want certain models to do. This way I got their analysis on anything I didn't know before and help not only on understanding the business better, but on optimising it as well.
