Overview
Daily, weekly and monthly reporting that involves different areas of the department. Some days include ad-hoc business requirements.
Skills
The placement has really boosted the use of the current skill set I had before placement. Whilst also developing those skills in a greater business environment, I was exposed to new skills that really developed my progression throughout the year which act as a crucial help in the development of my career.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot of individual project such as Data Analysis, competitor analysis, problem solving etc. All had a great effect of the decision making for management level in the department.
Support & Guidance
The support from my team was outstanding. We really knitted in well as a team and the wider brand at the company. Whenever I had a question or an issue with IT etc, there was someone always willing to help in the team which worked both ways in some instances. More widely with HR, there was little support from them. We had trouble with housing and they were useless and had zero concern.
Culture
The culture within our team was really uplifting and a whole team unit. Within the brand, everyone worked with each other and also in the office it was a pleasant atmosphere to be in. I can't answer for different brands or departments. However, as undergrads, there wasn't a lot more to add in terms of culture as we are 'short-term' staff.
Your Impressions
The placement overall was fantastic. I am really happy that I did the placement as it has really developed my skills, and personally felt that I have matured more within the business environment. The extra activiites and projects allowed me to work with other undergraduates that I wouldn't usually see as they are in other brands. One issue would be the communication with HR in terms of further development. I was expecting more integration.
Yes
Really express how your skills have resulted into some success, whether that is personally, at work or university. There's a lot of goals to be met at a personal and business level here, so showing off success is a good thing.
