    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed a lot of technical skills with regards to bot project management and quality. I have also augmented my confidence in presenting to all aspects of the business and being assured in the quality of the work I produce. I am now able to (not limited to) project manage IT infrastructure swim lanes, host internal process audits and also utilise the key PM tools.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given more responsibility than I would ever have hoped for. I wanted to make sure that I achieved the most I possibly could during my time at Cummins, and I have most definitely exceeded this. The placement has not only confirmed that I want to pursue a career within PM, but the working environment and colleagues I worked with were excellent. By far the best culture and business I have worked for.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received support during my placement whenever I required it. I was given the chance to work individually, using my own initiative and the freedom to make my own decisions. However, if I were ever confused or struggling with something, there was always someone who was more than willing to explain and support me. Everyone was extremely approachable and this also increased my confidence as I felt part of the team.

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from your line manager?
  • 5/5

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?
  • 5/5

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The culture of the company is unlike anything I have ever experienced. No matter what department, each member of both my intimate team and wider departments were so helpful and encouraging. The atmosphere was always positive and a pleasure to work in, especially now the offices are back open. I have had the opportunity to network even more so. Cummins definitely speaks the truth when they state that the culture is important to them!

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of my placement. I felt that it has greatly benefitted me on a career level and also on soft skills too. I am disappointed that it is coming to an end and I hope once I have graduated from university, I will return to undertake a graduate role.

  • 7. Would you recommend Cummins to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Cummins
  • I would strongly advise to practice psychometric testing as they can be quite difficult. In terms of applications, ensure that you are definite on the placement as you will be given surplus opportunities to develop in this area and it would be wasted if it was in something you weren't interested in. In the interviews, just be yourself. Cummins want someone to fit into the positive working culture of their company.
