My daily activities consist of: Weekly reporting on Trade – Daily Trading report, Sale report, etc. Forecasting, Updating and Actualising Franchise Files Liaise with other Country Financial Analysts - to ensure consistent and value added reporting across the business. Ad-Hoc Requests – Franchise, character set-ups, etc.
Skills
During my time here, I learned how to use RBI which is a software that I used for majority of the reports that I sent out. This was something that was new to me. I also have developed many skills through our intern development programme where we covered a range of topics designed to boost our employability such as personal branding, diversity and inclusion, CV & cover letter skills. I also developed my excel skills during my placement.
Responsibilities
During my internship I had a lot of responsibility. I sent out a lot of reports; one of them being a daily report which I sent out to over 150 employees. I was responsible for ensuring that they were accurate and sent out on time. I also sent out reports to senior people in the company. I was also responsible for presenting global weekly insights in our weekly team meetings. Outside of reporting I was responsible for handling the finance distribution lists.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance during my placement, especially in the beginning where my experience was very limited. Along with the handover week and handover notes, I knew that I could approach my team any time and that they would make time to help me out. My line manager was the main person to support me during my placement here at disney, they never made me feel bad to ask for guidance.
Culture
The company culture was really great, everyone was friendly and were always happy to help. There were events that were ran that are quite interesting - last summer I took part in a charity treasure hunt with my team. This was a great way for us to get to know each other as at the time we were working from home. There's also the intern development programme where you get the change to enhance your skills and meet other interns.
Your Impressions
I 100% enjoyed my placement here at Disney! I've fulfilled my goals in broadening my knowledge in finance and learned how to conduct myself in a work environment. I've met amazing people here, especially my fellow team members. The amount of responsibility and exposure given to me during my time here truly gave me the experience I needed, I also had amazing opportunities and memories during my placement year that I will cherish forever.
Yes
In the interview process, I would definitely make sure to stand out! Ask questions to show that you've been paying attention, also it's very easy for the interviewers to see whether you're being genuine or not - so just be yourself! Something I'd tell myself if I reapplied would be to leave a lasting impression on the interviewers such as sending a follow up email after the interview or make to my cover letter enjoyable yet informative to read.
