Overview
Working for L'Oréál Professionnel in the Indirect Marketing team I was able to network with our wholesale partners and provide them with a variety of digital assets. This included the creation of Instagram tiles, web banners, CRM, and website audits looking at the UX.
Skills
Yes. Throughout the internship, you are consistently developing and learning. Skills such as communication and organisational skills are important. You are also required to work independently; this gives you an opportunity to learn new skills and go on training courses which include Excel, Powerpoint, and Netbase. This role also allowed me to perfect my Photoshop skills.
Responsibilities
Yes. Throughout the year it slowly progresses as you progress in experience too. Responsibility included providing web banners, social tiles, and various other digital components to around 120+ different indirect accounts.
Support & Guidance
From the start of the internship, I had weekly catchups with my manager scheduled into my week as well as additional ones when needed, he was excellent! L'Oréals environment (especially PPD) is very collaborative and everyone I met throughout my year was happy to help me always.
Culture
The general atmosphere was positive and friendly. Whenever I asked a question it was always answered and I was never shut down.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement and it was a great opportunity that I was able to secure. There is a good balance between fun and work within the team and culture. The placement gave me a good amount of responsibility where I felt that I was making a difference. I will be applying for the graduate scheme and hoping to return in the future.
Yes
Be yourself and embrace your individuality. L'Oréal is striving to be even more inclusive than they already are so it will be recognised. Show a willingness to learn and be open and honest with your manager/team as this will allow them to offer help when needed and guide you so that you make the most of this great opportunity. Finally network, network & network some more!
