Overview
On a day-to-day basis, I monitor and measure tickets raised by the business users on our managing system - JIRA. I investigate issues and resolve them either on my own or by reaching out to other teams. I own the tickets until a resolution has been found. I constantly communicate with the users, vendors, engineers, DBAs, BAs, etc. The team has a plan of what we want to accomplish each day but this can often be put aside as a high-priority ticket can come, which takes priority.
Skills
I have both learnt new skills as well as developed my existing ones. I gained significant technical knowledge, including how to work with numerous systems. I also developed my communication skills, leadership skills, presentation skills, time-management skills, prioritization skills, and many more.
Responsibilities
I believe I was given much responsibility. I was treated as any other team member. The team trusted me not only with owning high-priority tickets but also with leading various projects and trainings.
Support & Guidance
I had a 4-weeks long training plan when I started my placement, which was more than enough to settle in. I have always felt very supported - from the first day until the current time. The team has always offered to help me and guide me.
Culture
The company is constantly aiming to create a comfortable and calm atmosphere where everyone feels accepted and appreciated. Diversity and inclusion are a big part of the company. All employees are constantly receiving diversity training and are taught how to be considerate of everyone around them. Mental health is also very much considered.
Your Impressions
My experience exceeded all my expectations. I enjoyed it so very much!
Yes
Be yourself, show your personality because it is taken into consideration and it matters. Be positive and friendly. Take time to think about the question if you need it. Prepare yourself with example questions and answers beforehand.
