Overview
Within my role I worked across a variety of projects. Some would take a handful of days with others taking months. I would help with interface design and user centred design on top of admin roles for specific projects. A few trips were called on for external meetings and frequent catch-ups are common.
Skills
Learnt new skills on interface design, system integration and developed user centred design skills.
Responsibilities
Far more responsibility than I anticipated, I found that I was trusted a lot with personal projects and felt comfortable with everything being asked of me.
Support & Guidance
Moderate guidance. By far the biggest flaw is people not coming in to the office meaning I don't feel like I know them at all, and making it Extremely uncomfortable to ask questions.
Culture
Everyone is friendly and genuinely wants to help. I never really felt like an undergraduate and could fully immerse myself.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed it when things have been good. Sounds obvious, but when my department are in the office and my workload is high I thoroughly enjoy my time, it's just when there's little to do and no one is in can it start to get dull.
Yes
Don't anticipate people coming in to the office necessarily, it can feel awkward but you'll have to start sending out questions on messaging services which is uncomfortable compared to just asking whoever's behind you. Also if you want specific work, just ask; they will tailor the experience to you.
