Overview
My role at GSK (Worthing site) is most easily broken down into three aspects: Warehousing, Distribution and Continuous improvement projects. Warehousing was key to my placement as it was the initial focus of my work and was my route into understanding how a site works from raw materials arriving on site all the way to finished products being sent to patients worldwide. The first project I undertook was to improve efficiency and quantify the maximum capacity of our outbound team to aid planning for our global supply chain planners. This initial project was fantastic in giving me an all-round understanding of where I would be working as it would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of the technicians who work on the shop floor explaining every process and allowing me to observe and discuss potential inefficiencies in their roles. The distribution aspect of my role was where I came across more quality and compliance aspect of the business. I managed and updated our DRA’s (Distribution Risk Assessments) and temperature complaints from markets as well as running monthly meetings analysing our distribution data to present to key stakeholders in order to identify and make potential improvements. I was asked by my line manager to get involved in Continuous improvement projects as an opportunity to work with freedom across departments on-site. This allowed me to work on projects in Procurement, Business systems and understand how a site interacts with the central leadership team to make future business decisions and achieve long-term goals through projects requiring significant investment with longer-term payoffs.

Responsibilities
Yes, as I became more competent and confident in my role I was given the freedom too make my own decisions on types of work I wanted too focus on and was allowed to lead projects when I felt comfortable doing so with the support of my line manager.
Support & Guidance
I was supported heavily throughout - through a network of mentors as well as my line manager. I did not have any situations where people refused to help me, everyone's general first response is too help throughout the company.
Culture
Very good - I was involved in lots of site events celebrating different milestones.
Your Impressions
I would definitely return to GSK were I given the opportunity it was a great experience and I loved both the work I undertook and the team and wider site of people I got the chance to work with!
Yes
Be motivated too learn. The opportunities are there if you ask the questions. In terms of the assessment Centre and interview process just prepare beforehand, if you have done your research the assessors are friendly and are not looking for you to fail. If you put the work in beforehand it is a very good learning experience, feedback will be given to you either way.
