Overview
I support the retail design team in L'Oréal's Luxe division, primarily working on YSL Beauté and Armani Beauty. My overall main duties are ensuring new projects for department store counters run smoothly, providing design support with CAD renders/floorplan analysis and assisting on the upkeep of current counters, including beauty technology and maintenance.
Skills
I developed my time management, multitasking, and teamworking skills (especially cross-function). I learnt to work in a more efficient manner and developed my knowledge and skills of retail design, specially on Sketchup.
Responsibilities
I was given way more responsibility than I thought pre-placement, taking lead of major design projects for the division, acting as the main point of contact for retailers when closing down major stores, presenting my own design concepts to the European head office retail design team.
Support & Guidance
I cant thank my manager enough for the support and guidance I received as well as the autonomy he gave me throughout my placement. Furthermore, L'Oréal's own learning platform was extremely supportive and second-to-none in developing soft and technical skills.
Culture
The culture is a very welcoming, supportive and fun place to work with a large emphasis on social as well as working hard.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyment my placement and don't want to leave!
Yes
L'Oreal is more than just shampoos and 'because you're worth it'. Do your research into the other brands L'Oreal owns and their achievements. Upskill yourself on the basics of Outlook, Teams and Excel (even my knowledge of outlook and teams from a year of online learning at university) was not sufficient.
