    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • As a member of the HR Planning & Development team, you will be involved in various HR related projects such as analytical report creations to training deliveries, taking an active role in providing an exceptional HR service to regional business. The Pan-European Leadership programmes is a key project that you will be involved with, specifically involved in the operational planning and administration of the programmes.

  • I have gained and developed a range of skills during my placement with Honda, including: - Communication - Planning/Time Management - Event Coordination (virtual and in person) - Data Analysis/Research - Problem Solving - Creativity - Excel/Powerpoint/MS Teams knowledge - Teamwork

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility within the HR Planning & Development Team during my placement year. I had a great opportunity to take responsibility in a number of activities as the team is fairly lean. I think there was a good balance between responsibility given and also supporting when necessary. The team trusted me to lead certain tasks and activities and helped me develop the confidence to do so.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The support I received over my placement was very good. If I ever had a query or concern, any member of the team would be happy to try and support. This support also came from the other HR undergraduates too. The team encouraged me to problem-solve and learn myself, however, I also knew there was support if I really needed it.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • Honda have a very strong culture that focuses on embracing inclusion. Something that stood out to me was the fact that the team really wanted to hear my ideas as an Undergraduate and valued the different perspective that I brought, which was really motivating. Although, the approval process for ideas and proposals can be slow and quite hierarchical which I think at times limits some of the innovative ideas of Associates.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • Overall, I really enjoyed my placement year at Honda and have gained lots of skills that I know will be very transferrable and useful in my future career. This placement role is a full-time role that has its own responsibilities like any other Associate and in this way the Undergraduates are really challenged and given lots of responsibility that will help them to learn.
