Overview
My key role is to assist the product managers to the best of my ability, whether that be extracting data from different databases, analysing data or creating PowerPoints which are acceptable to present in front of various managers and rankings within Honda. My day-to-day is firstly looking after the emailbox for the Product Management team and reporting on key data analysis. Also, I create a report by myself which goes out European wide.
Skills
I have most definitely developed my time management skills - after you are settled into Honda you will inevitably have a larger work load, of course which is still manageable but you need to learn to prioritise different task dependent on deadlines etc, not just the tasks you would rather be doing first.
Responsibilities
I was given key responsibilities during my placement at Honda. The largest responsibility given was a report I have ti make by myself which gives a summary of what is going on within the car manufacturing industry within the last 2 months, key trends of different powertrains such as electrified vehicles and combustion engines etc and also what cars are coming out soon whihc could be a competitor to Honda. This gets sent European wide.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support throughout my placement, especially at the start. My team were more than welcoming, helping me at any hurdle I encountered, but of course as you go on throughout the placement you need to use your initiative and be proactive rather than going to the team for help first.
Culture
General atmosphere was welcoming but during Covid we haven't been able to be in the office as much as we would have liked so there has been a lot of working from home, meaning I cant comment further on this.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed my placement very much so, it was great not only getting to know my team but also the other departments and undergrads around me. Not only was it a great experience in terms of my working career but also a great social experience.
Yes
If you are looking for a huge company to help you with your working career and also to gain an understanding what field you would like to go into post-uni Honda would be perfect for you. There are lots of different opportunities available to you, especially when you ask for them.
