    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role was to lead in the optimisation and reporting for all performance media channels, with a focus on the 7 direct to consumer brands. Across these channels, I would provide support for promotional materials, brief these to activation teams and ensure they set up to achieve optimal performance. In addition, I would conduct weekly reporting to provide insight on performance and takeaways/learnings for future promotional activity.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills at my time with L'Oreal. I have developed my ability to analyse complex data with the use of various analytical platforms, such as Google Analytics & Excel. As a key requirement, i developed these skills both internally and externally on courses at L'Oreal. Working within FMCG made me more commercially aware and enterprising, a skill to help overcome challenges to the business such as the growth of online competitors.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes - from day one! I had a clear set of responsibilities and deliverables. I played a vital role for the direct to consumer brands in supporting performance media, at one point unsupervised. You are not just making coffee or tea. You are empowered by your role and workload to which you have full reign to make your own and excel.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • You are supported well at L'Oreal from a HR point of view and line manager. Everyone is very open to 1:1 conversation and support on work related issues. I would like to see interns be supported more widely with a 'Buddy' from another division.

There is a wide array of groups/committees you can join to meet up and connect with people of shared interest. Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I enjoyed my placement for many reasons, i had the opportunity to work across multiple brands, had a great team and could apply my own creativeness to my role. The role met my expectations in that it was a fast pace environment with lots of challenges. As i grew into the role i became a lot more efficient and could bring some ideas to improve ways of working. I would be open to coming back.

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to L'Oreal
  • Be aware of what the organisation is about and what are some of the challenges it faces. When it comes to creating a solution, the interviewer will want to know why you make that decision and what rationale that was based of so bear that in mind for application/assessment centre. Be yourself, express passion, learn about the industry, tell them what you can bring to the business.
