Overview
The role offers a very proactive and real world experience into the world of work. You are provided with a range responsibilities such as ensuring product content on the website is accurate and kept up-to-date, working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and coordinating whilst working on projects.
Skills
During my time at Toyota, I have been able to learn and develop a range of desirable skills such as; stakeholder management, presentation skills, working independently, automotive industry knowledge, enhanced communication skills, dealing with conflicting priorities, working to tight deadlines, project management and dealing with different styles/effectiveness of leadership.
Responsibilities
YES! At Toyota, the placement students never do tea and coffee runs! Students are given advanced responsibilities which subsequently allows you to build upon your skills and learn on the job. I have been able to manage my own independent project end-to-end, with the involvement of a range of stakeholders both internal and external (agencies). There is no limit to what you are able to achieve.
Support & Guidance
The support from my team has been exemplary! There are no silly questions or judgement. At the start of my placement I had a two week handover period with the previous student which lay strong foundations for the year ahead. At Toyota there is a great team mentality and everyone is there to support each other.
Culture
Fantastic. As a multinational organisation, Toyota's culture and atmosphere is world class. One of the main aspects of Toyota's culture is 'Kaizen' also known as continuous improvement and this is embedded in every activity.
Your Impressions
A lot! Toyota has offered a superb opportunity to experience first hand the internal workings of a multinational organisation. There have been many rewarding opportunities offered such as taking part in the 3 peaks challenge to raise money for MNDa.
