Responsibilities
You're given high levels of responsibility from day 1 in-role with consistent opportunities to gain more throughout your internship in line with performance. You are expected to own your key job accountabilities from the beginning and provide a genuine impact on the business. Despite not always being glorious, all tasks have a role to play and undoubtedly if you perform, you will have the chance to work on exciting projects that really move the business needle!
Support & Guidance
You are very much in control of your own destiny when it comes to guidance and support. The vast majority are always willing to help with any questions you may have. Whilst every manager has a different style, it is key to really own this for yourself and push for support if it is needed, ask for clarification and ask development questions. Not only will this help your personal development, but it will show to those around you that you are keen to learn and improve within your role. This at the end of the day, is the purpose of an Internship/University Placement.
Culture
On the whole, L'Oréal offers a friendly and energetic culture in which everyone is keen to succeed. Life is very fast-paced and this can be a little daunting when settling in, however as stated previously it is really key to always reach out and take control of your own learning and development by asking lots of good questions. L'Oréal is quite unique in that the majority of employees, regardless of their role/division, are always keen to network and build relationships. It is very common to find it easy to meet and learn from those outside of your team and/or division; it is in fact very welcomed and encouraged. Be ready to be held accountable for your work and performance!
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement year at this company. I would go as far to say that without even accepting a position elsewhere, that I would not have enjoyed any alternative nearly as much. The sheer number of functions within a business that I was able to be involved in and gain exposure to is second to none in terms of other internships. I can leave knowing full well that I have at least a base level of knowledge and experience in almost every facet of digital marketing ideation and execution as well as stronger levels in some areas. I have had the chance to work on so many exciting projects and meet some fantastic people of whom are where I want to be professionally. I highly recommend this Internship.
Yes
I would advise all applicants to be yourselves. This company hires personalities over what they read on a CV. That being said, do not be lackadaisical with any part of the application process as a strong performance throughout is required to be successful! Be personable, curious, enthusiastic, confident yet humble and above all else eager and willing to learn. Allow that eagerness to really shine through during the process! If you want a challenging yet rewarding experience in which you have access to an abundancy of knowledge and learning opportunities, apply here!
