Overview
My role as a Commercial Intern at L'Oreal is very varied due to working on a number of different account cross-category. Day-to-day my main responsibilities include nominating and negotiating promotions with retailers, confirming new lines and pricing, presenting NPD to retailers, managing Christmas and All Year Round gifting for my retailers, clearing invoices and other ad hoc tasks.
Skills
During my placement I have developed and improved a number of skills such as, communication, interpersonal, presentation and time management. These skills are crucial for me to be successful within my role, however, a skill I feel I was lacking was technological and using Excel and internal and external systems daily has helped me improve these.
Responsibilities
I was very fortunate to have been given a lot of responsibility during my placement due to working on a number of smaller accounts. One of my main responsitlies was managing gifting for our retailers which includes All Year Round (AYR) and Christmas 2022. This was an amazing opportunity for me to understand the whole sales process from beginning to end and gave me exposure to other functions within L’Oréal such as Marketing.
Support & Guidance
I am beyond grateful for the constant support and guidance from my line manager and wider team throughout my internship. As an intern it can be overwhelming when you first start but my team were always patient with me a no question I had was a silly question.
Culture
L'Oreal has a very inclusive and fun atmosphere. Everyone at L'Oreal is very friendly and approachable and no matter who you are or your role, everyone is always willing to help. The culture of L'Oreal is very sociable and we often had social events or team days to help us network with each other.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my internship with L’Oreal and have learnt more than I could have ever imagined. I feel I have developed and gained some invaluable skills that will benefit me immensely in the future. I really feel like I have made the most out of this year and believe that it is true that you get out what you put in.
Yes
