    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • My role had a few tasks which were day to day, mainly extracting information from an internal system and seeing if we had any movements. Then checking to see if these movements were expected and if not I would need to raise with senior management. Otherwise, my role was more on a monthly basis with different reports being due at different periods of the month. My job was to prepare these reports.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have massively developed my Excel skills. I thought coming into this role I had a good knowledge of excel and knew some formulas. However, now coming to the end of my placement I have realised how much I did not know and how complicated the formulas can be. I feel confident in being able to read formulas and understand them and started being able to complete them myself

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • During my placement I was given the responsibility of preparing many reports which were then reviewed and sent to the regulators. I was given some of these responsibilities very early on which I was not expecting but for me personally was the best way to learn. Over my time here I have also been left to train others on the processes I have been doing, showing these to even senior members of staff.

  • Please rate how meaningful the work you were doing was

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • The support I received was unbelievable. From prior jobs I have had I have at times felt nervous to approach a senior member of any team to ask any questions. At RCI this was never the case, everyone was so supportive and always found time to help me out or answer any questions I had

  • How would you rate the support and guidance from the wider team?

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The atmosphere in the office was warm and friendly. It varied from department to department but regardless all of them were friendly. They are always finding ways to get everyone in the company together. RCI has a big group of interns so there was an opportunity to do socials. Not only the interns though there are opportunities to do social things within your department.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of my placement. One of the main things I loved was being involved in multiple teams. I have managed to explore more areas which has given me a better idea of what I want to do with my career. I have also loved socialising and getting to know all the other members of my team and the company, going out for drinks and meals.
