Overview
Over the past year, I have worked alongside the UK&I Communications and Corporate Affairs Team, leading mainly on internal comms however also supporting external comms. My role includes working closely with my team, creating and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
Skills
Leadership, communication, thinking quickly when put on the spot, time keeping.
Responsibilities
Yes, so much more responsibility than I was expecting! Definitely felt like a permanent contract employee.
Support & Guidance
A lot of support for my line manager and we received weekly/monthly training sessions on teams from different leaders in the business. I took part in an excel masterclass and a linkedin masterclass.
Culture
Company culture was excellent, I felt extremely comfortable especially on days when I went into the office. People are mostly friendly and it's great to make colleagues your friends.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it a lot, it's not exactly what I signed up for, however the skills that I have gained from this experience definitely made it worth it!!
Yes
Keep an open mind, there are thousands of different roles and not every one will be 100% suited to you - you have to adapt to what you are given and turn this into a learning experience. Learn how to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and ask for MORE. This will always impress the people that you are working with.
