My roles involves the initial review and assessment of adverse events received from various sources which are logged onto a safety database. It also involves reconciliation activities to ensure compliance in the department, reviewal of literature journals, working with global colleagues on global tasks and training new starters.
Skills
I have learnt many transferable skills since starting my placement including problem solving, communication, attention to detail, presentation, patient confidentiality, organisation, time management and time prioritisation skills.
Responsibilities
I never felt like a ‘student’ during my placement but simply one of the team. I was given as much responsibility as everyone else in the department which really helped me to develop my confidence and many transferable skills.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support during my placement. My on boarding process was about two months long which enabled me to feel comfortable with the tasks that I was taking on. The department were extremely helpful and always willing to answer any questions.
Culture
The company atmosphere was really friendly, everyone was so helpful and it was a really nice environment to work in. Majority of colleagues had the same values/beliefs that they were there to help patients.
Your Impressions
I loved my placement and would 100% recommend doing a placement during university. It has helped me so much with my confidence and I now feel a lot more confident about finding work after my final year in university.
