Overview
Speaking and liaising with press, agents and influencers. Running the local social media channels. Organising press and influencer events. Maintaining healthy levels of stock for send outs. Sending e-alerts to press regarding new product launches. Briefing influencers for content creation .
Skills
Helped developed my existing communication skills - learning how to speak with press/journalists vs speaking with influencers. Learnt the importance of time-management - the job can be quite demanding and you will have to learn how to balance all the projects.
Responsibilities
Very much so - much more than was expecting. E.g. given free reign to run the social media accounts, present in meetings, go on press trips and speak to influencers. Although this was very rewarding and meant that I feel much more prepared going into future careers.
Support & Guidance
Line manager and wider Brand Engagement Team (PR Team) were amazing -we got on super well and always felt I could talk to them about anything. Felt like a valued member of the team and never just the 'intern'. HR can be quite distant so you do have to actively reach out to them if you need support. However, if you are having issues, there are always people there to help you.
Culture
In my experience for the brands that I worked on, it was chill - everyone was really open to ideas, discussions, always listened to you and I never felt afraid to speak to higher levels of management. There were multiple after-work drinks, leaving drinks, LUXE socials (which were paid for!) and also quizzes etc as part of the societies e.g. in support of mental health awareness.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed the past year. It was certainly challenging and they do throw you in the deep end but there is always support and they co not expect you to know everything/anything. My team were amazing and I will 100% miss working with them. If you're looking for a placement that will challenge you, is super social and you will not be bored - this is the one for you! I would 100% go back.
Yes
The interview process is long - don't give up! And at your final interview, just treat it as a friendly conversation! They just want to get to know you as a person and your personality to see if it matches with L'Oreal so don't stress! This is a full on job - sometimes it required extra hours, attending and running events after work, at weekends so be prepared for this.
