Overview
I am a Business Development Intern working on the skincare category. In my role, I work closely with the Commercial and Marketing teams to grow the CPD brands Garnier and L'Oreal Paris. My responsibilities include sending out monthly dashboards full of data, monitoring competitor pricing and NPD, presenting in the Category Maximisation meetings and supporting colleagues with important projects.
Skills
I have developed my data analysis skills as my role involves using various data platforms such as Nielsen and Boots IRI to gather, analyse and draw conclusions from data. This has enabled me to significantly improve my communication skills as i often present my findings to the wider team. I have also been able to build on my time management skills as i have learnt how to effectively prioritise my tasks and set firm deadlines for them.
Responsibilities
I was given a huge amount of responsibility during my placement and was entrusted with challenging tasks. During my first month i co-managed a consumer decision making study with a colleague and by the end of my placement i was independently working on projects for different people within the business.
Support & Guidance
I consistently had support/guidance throughout my placement. This came from my line manager and other members of my team as well as people from other teams/divisions and people external to the business. I never felt as if i couldn't ask questions.
Culture
The culture is fantastic - everyone at L'Oreal is friendly, approachable and positive. Due to Covid-19, social activities were virtual for the first few months, but as the year went on there were more in-person events which was great for networking. There is also a big focus on mental health and wellbeing which i think is so important.
Your Impressions
My time at L'Oreal has been absolutely fantastic and i have grown beyond what i could have imagined both professionally and personally. I believe I have gained invaluable skills and experience which will help me during my final year of university.
Yes
I would strongly recommend researching the L'Oreal competencies and having examples of how you have demonstrated them.
