Overview
My role involved helping with the design the in-salon merchandising for the brands within PPD as well as supporting with category insights and data analysis.
Skills
My internship at L’Oreal has been incredibly valuable to my development, providing me with technical skills (data analysis, problem solving and time management), creative skills (designing briefs, marketing ideas & merchandising) and interpersonal skills (presenting & networking).
Responsibilities
I was given the opportunity to completely lead a launch in my division. This meant my internship was fast-paced and challenging, allowing me to develop my professional skills hugely. Despite this, i still received support were necessary, meaning the amount of responsibility wasn't too overwhelming.
Support & Guidance
I felt i received the perfect amount of support throughout my internship. Although i was pushed to challenge myself + do things outside of my comfort zone, i was still given support where needed.
Culture
The company culture is very social. The huge network of interns means are lots of opportunities to meet other people your age and there are events throughout the year to encourage this. There are also many opportunities to socialize more widely, with your team but also your division. However, there is also a strong culture of hard work & sometimes long hours. It can also be a fast paced environment so this is something to consider!
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed the hands on, fast paced experience i have gained in my year at L’Oreal. I have developed hugely and would really recommend it to anyone looking to advance their personal & professional development.
Yes
As i mentioned previously, there is a culture of very hard work. You have to be self-motivated and enjoy a fast-paced environment. You will definitely be pushed to challenge yourself and this is why it's so great for your development - if you're worried about an internship where you're just fetching the coffee's that is definitely not the case at L'Oreal! You get significant responsibility in your role and will be doing meaningful work throughout the year - and will come out of it with some really strong skills.
