Overview
Attending meetings and seminars, laboratory work ( support the team, assisting in weekly experiment ), interacting with colleagues around the office, networking. I also participated in various STEM activities.
Skills
I had the opportunity to do both. I developed my lab skills and learned how to use various equipment and machines. Through my STEM activities I worked on my soft skills and pushed myself in doing activities which I normally would be too scared to do.
Responsibilities
I was first trained and after I felt confident my team gave me full responsibility. But they were always very supportive and understanding, they were very patient with me and made sure that I felt comfortable with everything.
Support & Guidance
Every time I felt doubtful or wanted a second opinion, I always had my teams support. Each team member i worked with provided me with their full attention. Everyone helped me when I had difficulties. Even when I made mistakes they helped me relax and stop panicking and showed me how to fix it.
Culture
The atmosphere was very positive and friendly. I never saw anyone being negative, people were always smiling, were very kind and were always happy to help. In general, it felt like everyone was a big, friendly family, because of how they interacted with one another, very caring.
Your Impressions
This was one the most beneficial experiences of my life. Not only did I develop various important hard and soft skills, which will help me in the future, but also I met amazing people, networked and widened my community. I really looked forward everyday to go to work, because everyday it was something new and I really enjoyed the team I worked with.
Yes
Network, people are happy to help. Make the most out of the placement, ask questions. Be honest, it’s important to have transparency between you and your team.
