Overview
Tracking outages, working on report creation/ generation using AB Initio, using JIRA to track my work.
Skills
New skills: familiarity with AB Initio, Shell/ Bash Scripting, working in a professional IT Team, Trillium. Developed skills: MS Office Suite, Outlook
Responsibilities
I was given an appropriate level of responsibility for producing department-level deliverables and wider deliverables with supervision.
Support & Guidance
I was given an open-door policy, where I could reach out to my supportive colleagues or manager if I needed, but generally I tried to solve problems myself first.
Culture
The team were very friendly, connected and all went out of their way to help one-another and produce high-quality solutions. The wider company culture was very positive and professional, laying out clearly what was expected of anyone at the company, at all levels.
Your Impressions
I had an incredibly positive placement experience. I engaged in meaningful interactions with colleagues at various levels of the organisation and found the company to be a good fit for me. I was even able to join a company ‘club’ and incorporate this into my weekly schedule.
Yes
Ensure you develop your skills in line with the division you are entering (ask future line manager) and generally just get as involved as you can in the various projects and workload to ensure you get the most skill development you can.
