Overview
Projects to increase the production output of the packaging lines as well as maintaining compliant practice regarding health and safety and Quality regulations. Day to day role involves problem solving, risk management, continuous improvement and compliance tasks.
Skills
I have developed my ability to problem solve and see a project through from initial investigation to implemented solution. Through these projects I have developed my organization and leadership skills as well as the ability to meet demands in an high pressure environment.
Responsibilities
I was given the responsibility of a full time platform engineer for a packing line. This meant that for that one line, I was the point of call regarding medium to long term projects, compliance issues and general safety and Quality tasks.
Support & Guidance
I enjoyed the independence given during the placement. However, when support was needed, I found it very accessible in the form of management, other platform engineers and also SME's. I had regular 2 weekly catch-ups with my Mentor and former manager also to review my work to date, any issues I had and also a development plan to target during my remaining time at GSK.
Culture
The company revolves heavily around responsibility for providing the patients at the end of the supply chain with the best service/ product, whilst maintaining a no blame culture for individual mistakes. There is a wider feeling of inclusion throughout all levels of seniority.
Your Impressions
I had a great time working in this environment that was very people skills based. As such, I developed core skills regarding work place management and team work. There were opportunities to lean into hobbies such as 5 a-side football, sports events, charity events etc. Having a large early talent cohort enabled social events to be run weekly and for a inclusive community feel.
Yes
To focus on the core values at GSK and be ready to be approachable and assertive at the assessment centre.
