Overview
The role is varied across the year. From stacking shelves on day 1, to managing a store team and ensuring high KPI performance & compliance, leading recruitment & holding interviews with your area manager, auditing stores, project work and meeting with various levels of management throughout the business. You get real responsibility and opportunities to put yourself in the position of an executive manager.

Responsibilities
A huge amount. I was responsible for various crucial areas of the business including achieving KPI’s, cash handling, running shifts, leading teams, auditing stores, managing budgets and influencing real business decisions during project work.
Support & Guidance
From day 1 you’re given a mentor who is their to support you and aid with your development. You will shadow them at times and meet with them regularly to discuss your progress, you also have your director who you will meet every few months to discuss your progress and address any issues. You also have support from your store manager during your store time.

Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed it. The amount of responsibility I was given was incredibly empowering and motivating. I’m sad to be leaving to go back to university for my last year but plan on applying to the graduate area manager scheme.

Be prepared for the challenge. You will be tested a lot over the course of the year but the most important thing is that you are prepared and react positively to these challenges.
