Overview
No day at Aldi is the same! For the first 6 months you work in store training up to assistant store manager level. You have full responsibility of the store, with the ability to have a real impact. For the second 6 months you have the opportunity to work on projects that can be rolled out across the region or even reviewed on a national basis. I had the opportunity to lead and oversea multiple projects that were rolled out across the region.
Skills
Communication is one skill I have developed , and this has been through communicating to a range of roles within the business. One minute you could be talking to a cleaner, next minute it could be a regional director. Diary management is skill I have learnt, as with a busy schedule it is vital deadlines are not missed. This has also improved my time management skills having the ability to prioritise tasks. My leadership is one of the biggest skills I have improved, and Aldi gives you the opportunity to lead in a fast paced dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
Aldi gives you responsibility from day 1. From leading a team of 10+ employees in store to, overseeing the rollout of regional projects. You are provided with exposure to the entire business, giving you an understanding of how the business operates. All tasks are meaningful having a real impact on the business!
Support & Guidance
The support the best it could possibly be! All direct managers constantly provide constructive feedback, helping you improve every day. The wider team of area managers are also incredibly supportive providing support and guidance. When joining the business you are assigned a mentor that will provide constant support and feedback helping you achieve the most out of the year.
Culture
The company culture was very positive and inclusive. There was company events you could participate in across the region, including a half marathon which I ran myself. There aren't loads of organised social events outside of work mainly due to other placement students being spread across the region.
Your Impressions
For me it has been one of the best experiences ever! The amount of responsibility you have is incredible, with a opportunity to implement your own ideas into the business. It full exceeded my expectations, giving me the ability to develop my skills in a professional environment.
