Overview
Working in the store stacking shelves and managing teams. In head office the work involves communicating with stores to gather information to complete a project to be presented at the end of the year. Speaking to all departments in the company to implement new ideas and roll out additional training.
Skills
The main skill I have learnt is communicating effectively through multiple focus groups. These were really enjoyable and I can now speak to people on a larger scale. I am also a lot more confident in my daily life and more organised. I feel the year has helped me to plan ahead to make efficient use of my time.
Responsibilities
I was given a lot more responsibility than I could ever imagine. From the 2nd month I was managing teams in stores of up to twenty five people. When in Head Office I was responsible for communicating information to stores and cascading information between different departments.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support and guidance during my placement especially from my mentor and peers. We had a large intake of placement students and we all got along very well which ensured we could motivate and help each other at all times.
Culture
There is an excellent company culture whereby people enjoy working for this company. Although the role is very stressful there is always people you can talk to and get guidance on what to do. There are also a lot of social events to meet new people and form good connections.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement and made some really good friends. I learnt so much about the corporate world and how to act professionally in a role. I was given a lot of responsibility from day one and seen as a valuable member of the team at all teams motivating me to work well.
Yes
Follow the core qualities they are looking for from their website when you are being interview. The environment is very open and honest which is good because you always know where you stand and what is expected of you. It is an excellent company to work for and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a placement or job.
