Overview
The first 6 months involved managing a store team , ensuring KPI and targets were met, implementing Aldi's management system and driving sales. The last 6 months involved working on a project which showcased different skills such as initiative, organisation and communication.
Skills
I have massively developed my leadership and managerial skills. I have also developed resilience, time management, organisation, confidence, self awareness, managing underperformance, communication and professionalism.
Responsibilities
A huge amount of responsibility. Within a few months, I was acting as Store Manager for a London store. From day dot, you are given a key to the store and trained up on things like safe management. The second part of the year, involves project work whereby you are left to take your own initiative and are responsible for improving a set task.
Support & Guidance
I met with my mentor regularly, and had quarterly updates with my operations director. I also had two personnel updates with the managing director.
Culture
Everyone is friendly and the culture is very much about people and developing people
