Overview
The role involved shadowing the area manager throughout different stages of the placement, learning the day to day role and taking on elements of their responsibilities. Additionally, project work is a large segment of the placement. Enabling you to have complete autonomy over your allocated project. Opportunity to demonstrate initiative and creativity and have an impact within the region. Finally, store time, this consulates a large segment of the placement initially. Starting out as a store assistant and progressing to store manager level.
Skills
New skills learnt include: project management, leadership, networking. Skills developed: communication, time management, flexibility and empathy.
Responsibilities
Yes, one of the most significant takeaways from the year which I did not expect initially was the amount of responsibility I was given from the very beginning.
Support & Guidance
The support was great, mentor was super supportive. Additionally, contact with the direct leader and personnel leader was a lot more frequent than I expected.
Culture
Great people culture and all round a very friendly and inclusive work environment to be in.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed my placement year, it has been full of opportunities to grow and develop through our. I have been very grateful for the responsibilities I have been given as this has been incremental for my development.
