Overview
The first morning was an intro to the program and an explanation of the software we'd be using. Then, the next 2 days were spent shadowing a graduate. the final afternoon was a feedback session. It was supposed to be all online but my mentor graduate invited me into the office for a day so i could see the offices and meet people in person. I sat in on meetings with my mentor's friends, colleagues and also managers, directors and partners. In each meeting I was given the opportunity to introduce myself and tell everyone what i did at uni / what my future plans were.
Skills
Networking! Very vital for a job at PWC as that is how you get invited onto new projects which can lead to promotions and big trips abroad.
Business Insight
My mentor was great at explaining the hierarchy of the company and who answers to who. There are so many roles available in the company but you have to choose which speciality you'd like to work in quite early on in your career. however, it is my understanding that it is not too hard to change in the future.
Culture
When online, it was impossible to tell. But when I went into the offices, everyone was very friendly and wanted to talk about my future. The atmosphere was welcoming but clearly everyone in the business is high achieving and hard working.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it. My mentor ([This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions]) put a lot of effort into setting up meetings with people she thought we'd find interesting or people who work in the sectors we were interested in. Also, she got us invited to meetings with partners and directors to discuss the content of a new PWC website that will advertise the work PWC does in Space.
Yes
The application process is longgggggg even for 3 days. An exam, an online interview, a career focus day and other things were needed before i was accepted. even after that, there was a lot to do - filing in forms, signing things, people calling you, and downloading all the software you need to complete the course.
