Overview
An introduction into PwC's Deals Line of Service with talks from business representatives across all levels of seniority from Associates to Partners, Q&A sessions and interactive exercises. Given an insight into the Business Units within Deals, including Corporate Finance, Business Restructuring Services and Transaction Services. Also had an informal networking coffee chat with a Director in one of PwC's regional offices.
Skills
Networking skills and developed the skill of being proactive in group exercises, being the one to take initative.
Business Insight
The knowledge they gave us was really helpful in discovering what work you would be doing in each Business Unit on a day-to-day basis, the skills required for the role, the types of transactions the business advises on and the company's culture. Has given me the understanding needed to make an informed decision of whether to progress my career at the company.
Culture
Company culture is really supportive, you can tell that they genuinely care about their employees, as they make their voices heard, make adjustments for them to suit their career needs and more. The company is also in touch with the local community with events such as a Pantomime acted out by employees each year for school children to watch.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the insight highly because everyone was willing to make time for us and answer all the questions we had about the company and Line of Service and gave genuine advice regarding our career paths. However, at times the insight could get quite tedious as there was a high level of information overload and at many times it was just business representatives speaking to us, so there wasn't as much engagement.
Yes
Be open and put yourself out there to network with as many people as possible - networking is just about making friends and can open up so many opportunities down the line.
