Overview
Attended some staff meetings, several of which were for the same job so really got a feel for how a task was conducted and the friendly team dynamic. Was able to have q&a sessions with different employees with different levels of experience so was really able to get honest opinions, feedback and advice. Access to the PWC sight to get some training on tech and anything else we were potentially interested in.
Skills
Networking- got so many new contacts all willing to give help and advice for future and existing applications which is really nice. Presenting- Saw how people presented in meetings and the work through the challenges of doing these virtually. Attention to detail- When going through audit tests, ensuring the information provided by the client is correct and flagging any causes for concerns. Able to pick these out from large reports and statements.
Business Insight
Really reassuring as an undergraduate to learn how to secure a graduate role and really know what is involved when receiving a place. Gave me a lot to think about as before I was sure I wanted to go into audit but I am now looking into other lines of service such as consulting. Nice to know that there are clear lines of progression at PWC which you are supported for if it is desired.
Culture
The dynamic was really friendly- everybody was wiling to help and didn't make any question feel stupid at all. In the staff meetings there was clearly mutual respect between senior levels of staff and the less experienced members. PWC have flexible and hybrid working which all the staff seemed to appreciate. Teams going out for breakfast together, doing group yoga etc. Relaxed dress for your day policy unless meeting with clients (formal wear)>
Your Impressions
Thoroughly enjoyed it, nerves were calmed instantly as all the staff were kind and helpful. Was nice to have a real insight and not a sugar coated version that most recruitment officers sell you. Having said that it is clear that PWC really care for their employees and overall the atmosphere is enjoyable.
Yes
Make sure you research the line of service and maybe look at their social media platforms to see current events that are innovative in that particular line. For example I noted how drones were being used in stock checks and also had knowledge on the exams associated with my line of service. Don't be afraid to ask questions.
