    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • During the day we got to do some tasks for the business and help the employee we were assigned to . We got to shadow them as they went through their day, which involved being in their meetings and watching as they audited the files for various companies. We were also briefed on the rules and regulations that had to be followed as were dealing with confidential information which was quite interesting. We also got to meet people at various different management levels and hear their stories about how they progressed in their career at PwC.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • One of the skills that I found I had to use a lot and developed for me during the internship was my communication and team working skills. I found I was meeting so many new people and had to work together to complete the task that was given to me and it really helped me to network with them. My analytical skills also improved a great deal as I was going over the documents and looking through them.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It was so interesting to see how the business worked and all the roles available. I learnt so much about the structure of the company and what the process of moving up in the business was like for so many of the employees. It made me really think about the kind of role I wanted and the steps I needed to take to get to that position. Hearing about the employees talk about their personal experience growing in the company was inspiring.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • It was so vibrant! The people were extremely helpful and so nice to talk to. The environment was very welcoming and it was so interesting to see how passionate the employees were about accepting and embracing different cultures. The office I was in had a bake sale for charity and they told me about how two people volunteer to bake goods and the proceeds got to charity. They also do a sort of culture day where they pick a country and learn more about its culture and have a meal prepared from that country (eg. their national dish) which I thought was so cool!

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • Personally I really enjoyed it as it gave me an insight into what it would be like to work in audit for PwC. I enjoyed meeting the people there and found that I enjoyed the company culture a lot as well. It exceeded my expectations and I would definitely do it again. I would maybe try to apply for a longer program next time as it felt like this one was way too short to be the most help.

  • 7. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC
  • Be involved in whatever line of service you're applying for and make an active effort to learn more about the industry you're applying for. Being pro-active and using your free time as an opportunity to learn and develop your knowledge. Being friendly and having excellent communication is also a great soft skill to have when applying for a role like this as there is a lot of networking involved in a role like this.
