Overview
The day to day basis consisted of meeting female senior associates/ directors/ partners within the firm and learning about their experiences as a PwC employee and their roles within the firm. I also got an insight into how PwC facilitates for women in the firm, learning about their policies around childcare and maternity care, as well as a session on dealing with mental health within the work space.
Skills
I feel like I did not get the opportunity to learn any new skills due to the lack of organisation within my timetable and the lack of opportunities to speak to my mentors and attend meetings with them.
Business Insight
It was very comforting and interesting learning about all the progression opportunities available at PwC, especially from attending the 3-day work experience programme. The facilitators were very detailed about the opportunities available and about their experiences progressing within their roles.
Culture
The general atmosphere in the group meetings was great. It definitely felt very relaxed and very friendly as all of the mentors were engaging and very open about their work/life balance and how they deal with it in the company.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed the group meetings and the introduction to the firm and my mentors. However, I did not enjoy the lack of organisation coming from my mentors as I was unable to participate in any client meetings or learn new skills from them. It was very hard getting a hold of them and being able to arrange meetings around their schedules which made me feel a bit undervalued.
Yes
To be relaxed and themselves as the culture at PwC respects and values these characteristics.
