    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
  • It was a really good experience to get more insight into day in a life of auditor by meeting with associates and work shadowing along the day. Some of the activities involved was having chat with associates that had the same process like we did. It was really good to witness how they ended up in their role by taking certain steps. Shadowing was also really interesting as we had to witness how the team works together and how they interact. The whole experience was really good in terms of getting more idea about what audit looks like in a day to day basis.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved my communication skills by meeting new people especially people who are in a managerial positions. This also improved my confidence as the people we have met was really nice and helpful, they made me feel comfortable by allowing us to ask every question we might have. Another skill I have developed was using the new technology such as setting up the VDI. It was really challenging at the beginning but when I completed it I was proud of myself.

    Business Insight

  • 3. What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
  • It made me sure that this is the career path that I want to pursue in the next coming years. By listening to employers experiences and that pathways that they took to come into a position that they are in right now was really insightful as there is not just one right path or degree to take. Also seeing how easy it is to switch some positions around the business units, It was good thing to know as you will not be staying in a position that you might be unhappy with.

    Culture

  • 4. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • I think the culture and atmosphere at PWC amazed me the most. Employees were so comfortable and they really seemed like they were enjoying themselves even when they were having a stressful task to do. It is also very clear that employees have a lot of schemes and additional non-financial benefits that were offered to them such as extra 10 days for childhood care or organising events on gender equality. These really shows PWC its not just a good company to work for but also an environment where culture is really strong.

    Your Impressions

  • 5. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • To a great extent I enjoyed the insight as it was interactive, I get to meet with new people and participated in work shadowing. Networking part I really enjoyed as I could add them on linkedin. I would just prefer the insight to be in person as I think that is the best way to interact with the employers more and experience the day in an office based environment. Overall I really enjoyed the insight.

  • In my opinion key thing is to research the company. This would given a lot in the recruitment process such as before the video interview or career focus day. My knowing the company it also makes the interview process easier but also helps you to get to know the company more. Which I think makes sure whether you really want to pursue a career in this career and line of service or in this company.
