Overview
The aim of a vacation scheme was to emulate the experience of a trainee solicitor. Almost everyday started with a departmental presentation. The workload consisted of tasks such as; writing blogs, drafting emails, writing research notes, listening in to internal team calls and client calls etc. The content of the work was really interesting - well known clients!
Skills
Yes, I have learnt alot about legal research, developed skills involved with client communication, learnt alot about the structure of a law firm and what their motivations.
Business Insight
There was a large focus on the firms ambitions - there was an honesty in why the firm had certain goals and it was really insightful. In terms of potential roles - everyone on the scheme knows about the training contract already - but the firm highlighted all the opportunities that would be made to those receiving the TC (international opportunities etc)
Culture
Amazing! Everyone was lovely! Partners were chatty and genuinely seemed to care about the vac schemers. Graduate recruitment were always helpful and put on some amazing events.

Yes
Try to meet the firm in some capacity - attend open days. The application needs to be specific and interesting! A lot of effort needs to be put into the application!
