The Role
I loved going to work everyday, the only reason i didnt rate it as the best job ever is that I never got involved with the work my line manager did despite being advised i would.
All the staff are friendly and very passionate about what they do. They are welcoming and the managers will give you time to talk to them.
I was given a fair amount of support if i asked for help, however they would not give you any guidance unless you asked for it.
Like any job i had my busy periods and my balance periods. Overall i was more busy than balanced but it helped the days go quicker.
You are treated exactly like a full time employee with full responsibilities and deadlines. If you ask for more responsibility you are likely to get it.
In terms of assisting my studies, the work i did gave me real business examples of the theory i have already learned. However the skills i have gained and the experience of working in a busy office will definitely help me in my future career.
The Company
Despite everyone being really friendly and chatty the atmosphere wasnt always fun because of how busy people were.
I was given lots of information and support before and during my placement
The company did offer free online training courses of which some were mandatory, however due to the workload there wasnt always time to do any courses.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Healthcare from home
They have taken down the personal details of all placement students and advised we will be contacted about future job adverts however they do not currently offer a graduate scheme.
The Culture
There were around 25 placement students on site and people were always organizing nights out and trips.
The rent was expensive and there were not many social areas in the town
It was a student town however there were no clubs, only pubs. You would have to travel to London for a good nightlife.
Other than what the placement students organized there were not many other opportunities organised by work.
