Overview
Every day at Enterprise is different. A typical day contains admin, phone calls, serving and selling protection products to customers, driving and liaising with partners and business contacts. The main factors of the role are customer service and sales so these link into everything you do on a daily basis.
Skills
Doing a placement in a demanding customer service environment has developed me all round both personally and professionally. Specifically I have learnt new skills in sales, accounts management and cost control. Further I have really developed my customer service, management and people skills.
Responsibilities
At Enterprise you are given responsibility from day 1 which can be challenging, but really pushes you to develop. There were management tasks where I would be directly responsible for an element of the branch eg cost control. Here I would have to create a plan to meet the specific performance objects and lay this out to the team and follow up on this. Further when you are ready you begin “running the day” essentially you are in charge of the branch that day and organise the fleet and your team members, and are often in the branch alone dealing with the day.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support. The good thing about Enterprise is that it is promote from within meaning everyone has been in your position before so they understand how you feel and how to help you. There is also a mentor scheme where you get assigned a manager that’s outside of your branch that you have monthly meetings with to discuss anything you need help with.
Culture
It had great links with external companies and charities with lots of opportunity to get involved in events and special days.
Your Impressions
Overall I really enjoyed it, I worked with great people and got rewarded and recognised for my hard work. There are tough days within Enterprise where you can be driving all day and not feel like you’ve gained much, but overall what I have gained from my placement has been immense.
Yes
Build a strong network of people both within and outside of work to rely on as the job and the hours can be tough so having a support network around you so really important. However if you apply yourself you can gain so much from the experience and will have an abundance of things to add to your CV.
